As a family, how do we chose our next adventure destination?

My husband is actually the one that normally pulls the trigger on a destination, often when I am occupied working. But, I have never regretted his flight decisions. Our big trips that have been booked by him are Peru and Namibia. Why does he book these without me? Usually its due to flight deals that can’t be ignored. For example, Peru was booked through a amazing flight deal found through the Points Guy.

Luckily, we are on the same page with what we look for in our adventures. Our criteria general revolve around flights, activities, nature and food.

Destination Criteria

Are the airlines operating there the ones we have airmiles for?

Is there something different to do everyday – new location or new actvity

Are we going to enjoy some good food (cooking a good steak over a campfire counts too if it is accompanied by a good bottle of wine)

Is there going to be some activities involving nature (hiking, diving, fishing etc)

City Breaks

We are not massive fans of city breaks, but when booked right, can be a lot of fun. Living as expats means we miss out on some things such as the theatre, a good selection of restaurants and shopping. We aim to do a few more city breaks now that Andi is a little older where she would appreciate the museums, the culture and the history.
